1st Saturday Social Dance, $7/person
1st Saturday Social Dance, $7/person
March 2, 2024 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm
1st and 3rd Saturdays Social Dance 7:30-10pm $5/person for those currently participating in a class series $7/person - General admission Cash is preferred for the dances Add .50 cents for card payments
Mini 30-minute intro lesson to start. Lesson changes each dance. These introduction lessons are just that - introductions. These do not replace attending actual class series.1st Saturday dances are a similar format as the weekly Tuesday dances. Of course, requests are taken, and we'll play for those who are in the room.
Mini 30-minute intro lesson to start. Lesson changes each dance. These introduction lessons are just that - introductions. They by no means replace attending actual class series.
Music is a mix of, Ballroom, Various Swings (including West Coast), Club and Latin (including Salsa and Bachata, and sometimes a little bit of Country and Shodishes thrown in by request. Requests are welcome.
New dancers are always welcome. No partner necessary. While some choose to dance only with their own partner, most are comfortable dancing with others, including our singles. Socials are a good place for new dancers to get started on your lifetime journey of dancing enjoyment.
Hand sanitizer is available. Common surfaces are regularly cleaned, but you are welcome to bring your own sani-wipes if that makes you more comfortable. There is no drinking fountain, but there is bottled water for sale. However, you are welcome to bring your own water bottle.
Shoes: You don’t need special shoes (dance shoes) initially. Usually, something you already have in your closet will work for starters. Shoes need to be clean and DRY. If your shoes are wet, they will stick. So if it’s raining, or has been raining, bring you “dance” shoes with you.
Overall, shoes should be comfortable, practical and stay on your feet.
For guys, dress shoes usually work fine. Something you might wear with a suit. Stay away from Gym shoes, work boots or cowboy boots. You can’t “feel” the floor.
For ladies, a shoe that goes all the way around your foot, including your heel, is best. If not a completely closed heel, then at least a strap. Nothing too strappy, so you’ll have stability in your shoe.
No 4” platforms. No 6” stilettos. No Flip Flops. . . .. . Practical, sensible, functionable.
You are going to be in them for a while, AND you need to be able to move in ALL directions quickly. Closed toe is better for starters to protect your feet as you and your partner are learning.
Clothing:
Except for shoes (above) no special clothes are needed for class or dances unless otherwise noted. Comfortable, casual and in layers so you can shed as you warm up, and you will.
Make sure you wear clothes that will stay with you as you move. Remember you are moving, arms going up and down, twisting and turning. Make sure your clothes won’t go one way while you are going another, resulting in one of those awkward “wardrobe malfunctions”.
This is a non-alcoholic teaching venue with an excellent real wood floor, natural light and a climate-controlled state of the art ventilation system.
Email if you have questions or concerns.
